If you're anything like me, you're always looking for side dishes that strike the right balance between simplicity and flavor. Enter: maple-roasted sweet potatoes. They're tender, lightly caramelized, and packed with warm, cozy flavors. This recipe makes them the perfect side for holiday meals, weekday dinners, or even a stand-alone dish when you're craving something sweet and savory.

Sweet potatoes already bring a natural sweetness to the table, but adding maple syrup takes them to the next level. The syrup caramelizes in the oven, creating a slightly sticky glaze that's balanced by earthy spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The result? Sweet potatoes that are golden and tender on the inside with a little crispiness on the edges.

They're also super easy to pull together. You don't need any fancy equipment-just a sharp knife, a bowl, and a baking sheet.

And the ingredients? Most of them are probably sitting in your pantry right now.

We love these maple roasted sweet potatoes as a holiday side, but we often have it as an everyday part of dinner too. It's perfect alongside Maple Mustard Chicken Legs plus a side of Arkansas Green Beans with Bacon.

Storage, Freezing, and Make-Ahead Tips

  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

  • Make-ahead: Prep the sweet potatoes and marinade up to 24 hours in advance. Store them in a covered bowl in the fridge, then roast just before serving.

Recipe Tips

  • Cut the sweet potatoes into uniform cubes to ensure even roasting.
  • Don't overcrowd the baking sheet-use two sheets if needed for maximum crispiness.
  • Flip the sweet potatoes halfway through roasting for an even caramelization.
  • Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
  • Taste the marinade before tossing-adjust sweetness or spices as needed.
