Website Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to yousaypotatoes.com, a food, and recipe blog.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. We are continuously improving the accessibility of our website for people with disabilities. If you find that we are not meeting your requirements, we hope you can let us know by sending us a message at info@yousaypotatoes.com.

You Say Potatoes is committed to making the website accessible to everyone by meeting the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA (WCAG 2.1 AA standard).

We will make every reasonable effort to make this page accessible.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible and some areas on the website where we could improve accessibility. Currently, we are working to rectify this. We hope that this website will achieve “Level AA” conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 by December 2023.

  • Photos: We will update the alt-text in our posts. We hope to have improved the accessibility of the Photos on all our Posts of the Website by the end of 2023.
  • Link Text: We will also update our link texts so that they become more accessible. We hope to have improved that by the end of 2023.

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, contact info@yousaypotatoes.com

Enforcement procedure

UK: The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

You Say Potatoes is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).

We plan to add text alternatives for all images by September 2023. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.

We plan to update our link texts so that they become more accessible by December 2023. When we publish new content we'll make sure our link text meets accessibility standards.

Disproportionate burden

This site is not claiming a disproportionate burden.

Interactive tools and transactions

Our forms are built and hosted through third party software and ‘skinned’ to look like our website.

We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with navigation and accessing information, and with interactive tools and transactions. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment at the end of 2023.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
