Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes (approx 5oz each)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F/200°C.
- Prick the sweet potatoes with a fork and place then onto a baking sheet lined with foil or baking paper.
- Roast the sweet potatoes for 45 minutes or until soft and cooked through.
- Allow the sweet potatoes to cool until you’re able to handle them, then slip off the skins.
- Place the flesh into a bowl and puree with a hand blender (or mash with a masher or whiz in a food processor).

Notes
- When roasting sweet potatoes, make sure they are all cut roughly the same size to ensure they all cook evenly at the same time.
- If using for baby food, start with plain sweet potato puree and work your way up to adding seasonings, avoiding any salt.
- Boil or Steam. There are many different ways you can cook a sweet potato before it’s pureed. If you don’t prefer roasting them, you can also boil or steam them before adding them to a blender. You can also cook them in a pressure cooker or instant pot if you have one.
- Add sweet seasonings. Give this puree a touch of sweet warming flavors by adding a pinch of cinnamon and some sweetness with maple syrup, honey, or coconut sugar.
- Keep it savory. Pureed sweet potatoes are pair well with savory flavors like fresh herbs and spices.
