Nutella Pastry Bites

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 17.3 ounce puff pastry frozen sheets
  • ¼ cup Nutella or any chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1 egg lightly beaten (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400F/200C. Line a baking sheet with baking parchment paper.
  • Unfold the puff pastry sheets onto baking parchment paper with the long side facing you. Roll it out slightly to make the pastry a little thinner.
  • Cut the pastry sheets into 2 inch wide strips, then cut all strips in half.
  • Spread the nutella over the strips, leaving space at each edge without any.
  • Roll the pastry up from the small edge.
  • Place each roll, seam side down, onto the baking sheet at least 2 inches apart (use more baking sheets if necessary).
  • Brush the rolls with the beaten egg.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until risen and golden.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then sift the powdered confectioner’s sugar over them, if using.
