Unagi Sauce

Unagi Sauce, also known as eel sauce, is a popular Japanese condiment used to top sushi and other dishes. This recipe for homemade eel sauce is easy to make from scratch using just four simple ingredients!

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup mirin
  • 4 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce

Instructions

  • Stir the mirin, sugar and sake together in a small pot and bring to the boil.
  • Reduce the heat, stir in the soy sauce and allow the unagi sauce to simmer for 10 minutes. It will thicken slightly, and will thicken further as it cools.
  • Allow to cool and store in a sealed container in the fridge until ready to use.
