Microwave Nacho Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Velveeta cheese cut into ½-inch cubes
  • ½ cup milk whole milk works best
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder mild or hot
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Place the cheese cubes into a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Pour the milk over the cheese.
  • Place the bowl into the microwave and cook for 1 minute.
  • Remove the bowl and stir well.
  • Return the bowl to the microwave and cook for another 1 minute. Stir again.
  • Continue heating in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the chili powder, paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Serve immediately. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.
  • Tip: If the sauce becomes too thick, stir in 1–2 tablespoons of warm milk to loosen it.
