Separate the graham crackers: Break apart each sheet of graham crackers into two square pieces. Lay them out on the counter or a table for assembling.
Prepare the peanut butter and jelly: Add the peanut butter to a piping bag or a plastic bag and cut off the tip. Repeat with the jelly.
Assemble the sandwiches: Pipe alternating stripes of peanut butter and jelly. Top with the remaining graham crackers to make a sandwich. Enjoy!
Cook's Tips
Assemble the peanut butter and jelly graham cracker sandwiches no longer than 2 hours before you plan to enjoy them, as the peanut butter and jelly will soften the crackers. If you enjoy the softer cracker, assemble them up to 8 hours in advance.
Use fresh graham crackers for this recipe as stale ones will be too hard and not as enjoyable.
If you don't have a piping bag, no worries! Just place the peanut butter and jelly in separate plastic bags. Cut a small hole in one corner of each bag and pipe it onto the crackers that way.
For best results, start with peanut butter on one end, and also end with peanut butter so the graham cracker sticks properly.
Serve them up as a fun after-school snack!
Variations
Use different nut butter: You can use any type of nut butter you enjoy for this recipe, including almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter.
Use different jelly: Instead of grape jelly, you can use any type of jam or preserves you enjoy. Try strawberry jam, raspberry jam, or even marmalade!
Use chocolate spread: If you don't like peanut butter or are allergic, you can use a chocolate spread such as Nutella in its place.
Use honey: If you want to avoid processed sugars, you can use honey instead of jelly. Just keep in mind that the flavor will be different and more subtle.
Try out other cracker flavors: Chocolate graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or gingersnaps for mini sandwiches!
Storage & Freezing
Store these sandwiches in an airtight container in or out of the fridge for up to 24 hours.
You can also freeze these sandwiches for up to two months. Wrap each sandwich individually in cling film, then place all wrapped sandwiches in a freezer bag. Keep in mind that the texture of the graham cracker will be softer after thawing.
