    Microwave Cooking Tips

If you're new to microwave cooking, there's no need to be intimidated. It's actually quite simple and can be a great way to quickly prepare meals. Here are a few tips to get you started:

    1. Start with recipes that are specifically designed for microwaves. This will help ensure that your food comes out cooked properly.

    2. Be careful not to overcook food in the microwave. Foods can cook quickly and unevenly in microwaves, so it's important to keep an eye on them.

    3. Use microwave-safe cookware. Some materials, like aluminum foil, can cause problems when used in microwaves.

    Microwave Watt Conversions

Many of these recipes are based on an 1100-watt microwave, the average wattage for newer microwaves. However, older microwaves can range from anywhere between 700 – 1500 watts.

If the wattage is mentioned in the recipe, you can adjust the timings:

If your microwave is LESS than 1100 watts:
You may need to INCREASE the cooking time from 5-15 seconds.

If your microwave is MORE than 1100 watts:
You may need to REDUCE the cooking time by 5-15 seconds.

TIP: How much you will need to increase/reduce your cooking time will depend on how far from 1100 watts your microwave is.

TIP: To find the wattage of your microwave, check for a sticker on the outside, or inside the door. Alternatively, consult the manual or search online for the make and model.
