    Why Make This Recipe

    • No need to head to Arby's to get this delicious horsey sauce condiment.
    • Copycat Arby's Horsey Sauce is made with just 4 simple ingredients.
    • It can be served in a variety of different ways.
    • This scratch-made sauce lasts in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!
    Ingredients on a table.

    Ingredients

    • Mayonnaise - Makes up the creamy base of the sauce allowing all of the flavors to blend together. I use Duke's mayo, but you can use other popular brands such as Hellman's or Best Foods.
    • Creamed Horseradish - This is a mixture of grated horseradish root that has been mixed with vinegar, salt, and cream. You can find it in the grocery store near the other condiments. It adds a kick of heat and flavor to the sauce.
    • Superfine Sugar - Helps to balance out the heat from the horseradish and adds a touch of sweetness. You can use regular granulated white sugar, but make sure to stir well and let it rest in the fridge to 'melt' the sugar. Superfine melts quicker.
    • Salt - Balances out all the flavors and enhances the sweet and spicy notes.

Spoon in a bowl of copycat horsey sauce.

    Cook's Tips

If you don't like too much spice, use only a bit of horseradish and adjust to your liking.

Make sure all of the ingredients are fully mixed and combined.

Do not skip the chilling step as it helps the flavors to develop completely.

When storing, add to a sanitized jar or container with a fully sealed lid to keep it as fresh as possible.

    Serving Suggestions

This sauce is perfect in many ways, particularly slathering on Arby's Roast Beef Sandwiches.

Spread it on sandwiches and burgers.

Use as a fry sauce for dipping.

Enjoy as a chicken wing dip. Try it with Cajun Chicken Wings (Wingstop Copycat) or Louisiana Rub Wingstop Chicken Wings (copycat).

Enjoy it on Beef, Chicken, or Pork to add extra flavor.

Serve with Shake and Bake Pork Chops, Bisquick Oven Fried Chicken, Air Fryer Chicken Thighs, or Microwave Baked Potato.

    Variations

Add freshly chopped or dried herbs to the mixture such as chives, dill, or parsley.

Add a bit of Worcestershire sauce for an extra depth of flavor.

Try using half mayonnaise and half sour cream for a tangy twist.

If you like a sweeter sauce, feel free to add more sugar to the mixture.

For even more spicy flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes.

    Storage & Freezing

This homemade horsey sauce can be stored in the fridge for up to two weeks in an airtight container. I like to store mine in a mason jar or other glass jar with a lid.

Freezing is not recommended as the mayonnaise can separate when thawed making for a watery mess.

I absolutely love how delicious this sauce is, although the recipe only calls for a couple of everyday ingredients! We used it in sandwiches, and now have some leftover, so I am going to serve it as a dip for chicken strips tonight!
